Welcome to Dharmathai dot Com – Dharmathai Buddhism Portal is a series of sites and blogs  in the Thai Theravada Buddhist tradition. The Portal presents the Dhamma Blog, Buddhism Forums in Thai and English as well as sections for those beginning to interest themselves for Buddhism to aquaint themselves with the basic terminology and primary concepts in applied Theravada Buddhism. The main inclination of the Buddhism Portal is towards the Thai Tudong Vipassana based Forest tradition in the lineage of Luang Phu Mun and Luang Por Chah. Luang Por Chah is responsible for the massive increment in the interest of Westerners in practising Vipassana Kammathana Mindfulness meditation and even Ordination into the Buddhist sangha as Bhikkhus in the Buddha Sasana. Always remember to keep checking the navigation menu on the top of this page, as new additions are constantly being added – when you float the mouse over the menu, new tabs will appear and increase in number as time passes and we add more content. Many teachings from a number of different masters shall be featured; aimed at helping you to practise applied Vipassana Mindfulness, Samatha and Jhana meditation methods.

Apart from this the various concepts in Buddhist theory are being presented for reading and study. Comments on the pages of the site are allowed and welcome; you will see comment forms at the bottom of each page. Requests are always heard and we are quite pleased to find and present any information you wish to see published, so please don’t be afraid to ask. For those of you who are new to Buddhism and don’t know much about Dhamma, please visit the “Beginners’ Buddhism” blog section of Dharmathai Portal – you will find explanations of Buddhism and basic  Dhamma there to help you in understanding and beginning Buddhist practice.
The Beginners’ Buddhism section is also of interest to intermediate practitioners too, as there are some interesting addititions covering less commonly known aspects of Thai Theravada Buddhist practice (such as the Birthday Buddhas article).

Another fascinating section of the Dharma Thai Buddhism Portal is the Ramakian Tales blog – recounting the Ramakian (Thai version of Valmiki’s Hindu Ramayana Epic), as composed by two of Thailands former Royal Kings. The tale of the Ramakian is recounted in episodes on the blog in English, as well as synopsis of the various characters of the Ramayana, and their family heirarchies – Images of the various characters are included as well as pictures of the beautiful mural wall paintings in various establishments and temples of Thailand, which recount scenes from the Ramakian.
