The order you seek is the confusion you feel.Is the sun a symbol? I thought it was an object that lit up the world.A false step now means nothing later.I hate criticism, it makes me feel important. The moon has seen many a theory come and go.The mouse that fears the trap has already been trapped.News used to come too late; now it comes too early.Appreciation […]

When smashing idols, always begin with your own.The pieces of a puzzle aren't together or apart. When a thing becomes indispensable it's time to give it up.Even blind alleys lead somewhere.A puppet whose strings got cut learned to walk all on its own.Success reveals how little ambition is worth.Handing one's troubles over to God makes sense eve […]

The gambler who expects to lose is the happiest person at the track. When you think someone has a problem the problem is really yours. There's something braver than dying for the truth-living without it.A dead writer has no ego.The wind was never angry, the rain was never sad.In the morning I don't want to know where I'll be in the afternoon. The […]

You can win the lottery, but not an argument. The scarecrow has been in the field so long he thinks it belongs to him.Lessons are learned, not taught.Mannequins can't dress themselves. Stones go wherever you throw them.Should I refuse the honey because the bee stings? What is fog on the surface is also fog deep inside. The things I'm not learning are […]

Experiences for which there are no words get along fine without them.Behind every mask there is a face and behind that a story. If you want to set your life in order consider it already done.Altruist: a person who wants to help people more than they want to be helped.Put on a red nose and baggy pants when the circus is in town.A blind man sees with his cane, […]

Dharmathai Buddhism Portal

Dharmathai Thai Buddhism, Dhamma Blogs and Forums

Welcome to Dharmathai dot Com – Dharmathai Buddhism Portal is a series of sites and blogs  in the Thai Theravada Buddhist tradition. The Portal presents the Dhamma Blog, Buddhism Forums in Thai and English as well as sections for those beginning to interest themselves for Buddhism to aquaint themselves with the basic terminology and primary concepts in applied Theravada Buddhism. The main inclination of the Buddhism Portal is towards the Thai Tudong Vipassana based Forest tradition in the lineage of Luang Phu Mun and Luang Por Chah. Luang Por Chah is responsible for the massive increment in the interest of Westerners in practising Vipassana Kammathana Mindfulness meditation and even Ordination into the Buddhist sangha as Bhikkhus in the Buddha Sasana. Always remember to keep checking the navigation menu on the top of this page, as new additions are constantly being added – when you float the mouse over the menu, new tabs will appear and increase in number as time passes and we add more content. Many teachings from a number of different masters shall be featured; aimed at helping you to practise applied Vipassana Mindfulness, Samatha and Jhana meditation methods.  Apart from this the various concepts in Buddhist theory are being presented for reading and study. Comments on the pages of the site are allowed and welcome; you will see comment forms at the bottom of each page. Requests are always heard and we are quite pleased to find and present any information you wish to see published, so please don’t be afraid to ask. For those of you who are new to Buddhism and don’t know much about Dhamma, please visit the “Beginners’ Buddhism” blog section of Dharmathai Portal – you will find explanations of Buddhism and basic  Dhamma there to help you in understanding and beginning Buddhist practice.

Yaksa Demon Nontuk - Thai Ramayana

Another fascinating section of the Dharma Thai Buddhism Portal is the Ramakian Tales blog – recounting the Ramakian (Thai version of Valmiki’s Hindu Ramayana Epic), as composed by two of Thailands former Royal Kings. The tale of the Ramakian is recounted in episodes on the blog in English, as well as synopsis of the various characters of the Ramayana, and their family heirarchies – Images of the various characters are included as well as pictures of the beautiful mural wall paintings in various establishments and temples of Thailand, which recount scenes from the Ramakian. Ramakian Tales is translated and told by Mr. Spencer Littlewood of www.sak-yant.com website
